Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) through our internal operations and our approach to external collaboration is a critical part of how we fulfill our mission to leverage Japanese innovation against neglected infectious diseases through R&D and global partnerships. Our Diversity Steering Committee, chaired by our CEO, launched in April 2024 to advance our objectives and track our progress. Learn more about how DE&I is hardwired in our DNA here .
Diversity
We believe that diverse perspectives drive innovation and excellence. We celebrate diversity in all its forms, and we are dedicated to diversifying our team and partnerships to mirror the global health community and value different viewpoints for informed decision-making.
Equity
We acknowledge persisting global health R&D disparities and commit to helping address them by focusing on funding gaps and connecting underrepresented voices. Our supported R&D prioritizes marginalized populations and removing barriers to access.
Inclusion
We aim to foster an inclusive, supportive environment where everyone feels valued and heard. We promote open communication, collaboration, and belonging among our staff, partners, and communities. Our culture values empathy, learning, and inclusive participation in our mission.

Our people

Our management team and Board of Directors proudly commit to advancing gender equality , diversity, and inclusive representation through our work and in our staff and leadership. We have embarked on a journey to track voluntarily provided, disaggregated data to help us understand trends, patterns, or inequities; we look forward to sharing what we learn in due course.

Staff Interview
Saving lives through drug development: Remaining steadfast

The GHIT Fund is a global organization that supports new drug discovery to combat infectious diseases, such as malaria, tuberculosis, and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) that threaten the health of the poorest people around the world.

Every member of the GHIT team shares the vision of saving lives by tackling diseases that the world has historically neglected -- a vision of contributing to society. They passionately take on global health challenges.

Innovation comes from diversity. It's important that each and every colleague recognizes their responsibility, embraces problem-solving, helps others, and learns from others, so that every one of us can grow as an individual and so that we also grow as an organization.

Staff Story

GHIT staff members with a variety background discuss their experience in and passion for global health R&D, as well as their day-to-day work.
