Announcing New Selection Committee Member

The Global Health Innovative Technology (GHIT) Fund today announced the appointment of Dr. Karen Menge as a new member of the institution’s Selection Committee (SC), which evaluates investment proposals and reports from development partners and makes investment recommendations to the Board of Directors.

Dr. Menge is a diagnostic expert who was formerly Vice President of Research and Development and Chief Scientific Officer at ChromaCode. She has extensive experience, including leading clinical trials in low- and middle-income countries, designing and initiating an observational clinical research study in Senegal to evaluate SARS-CoV-2 infections and immune response in vaccinated cohorts, and in the digital health space.

Dr. Osamu Kunii, CEO of the GHIT Fund, said “This year marks GHIT’s 10th anniversary since its inception. I am pleased to welcome a new diagnostics expert to the Selection Committee. As GHIT enters its third phase, it is crucial to accelerate the research and development of diagnostics in order to detect and treat neglected patients as soon as possible. I look forward to Dr. Menge’s contributions to the evaluation and advancement of projects, especially in the diagnostics area. GHIT will continue to elevate the quality of the scientific evaluation process in the years to come through more active discussions.”
