The GHIT Fund is an investor in global health. The returns we seek are concrete: namely, the efficient and effective development of innovative new health technologies that have the potential to change the game for health and economic prosperity in the developing world.
We measure the impact and progress of our investments with two metrics commonly used in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. First, our product development milestones track the progress of our investments through 30+ key steps in the research and development process-from discovery to clinical development to approval. Some of these milestones are also Stage-Gates, which serve as critical decision points for continued investment. And third, we quantify the number of products that are targeted to potentially result from our investments as a way to track innovation. Along with these three metrics, we also illustrate the broader potential economic and social impact of our investments through targeted case studies.
